Pentecost Sunday, and “No Bench for Matthew”

We often think of learning as sitting on a bench, listening and taking notes. Matthews school was not like that. Before Jesus came, he would sit on his chair at the tax booth, and receive the taxes people brought to him. But then Jesus came and told him to get up… and from then on there was not much bench time for Matthew. He was learning on the move, hands on deck. When Matthew speaks of discipleship, of faith, of following Jesus, it is very active living. Following Jesus didn’t only change how Matthew thought about things, it changed how he lived.

This upcoming Sunday, we celebrate Pentecost while we continue our theme No Bench for Matthew. Meet us at Bakkehaugen Church at 4pm.
