Happy New Year!

Do you have any new year resolutions? As we are now in the middle of January, many have already broken and given up their goals. One of the reasons why many don´t achieve their goals is that there is a lack of clear reason for it. Try to write down all the reasons you can think of why it would be great to reach your specific goal. Then read it once a week to remind yourself and motivate yourself. Read more about goals here.

So what can you expect happen in OiC this year?
The board has been discussing what the focus of 2013 should be, and many of you have been praying about it. The conclusion is simply: GETTING ROOTED. This means we will avoid starting new things. We don´t want to become an activity based church, but a church that very strongly focus on the most important things; what the life in Christ is all about. So this year we will work on the things we already do. growing in quality instead of quantity.

We want to get rooted in and through:
– Growthgroups
– Our identity as a church (who we belong to and in what way)

– Our vision, mission and values
– Improving the ministries we already have
– The way we are structured and organized
There is however one exception. We will start some kind of basics of faith course. This also has to do with getting rooted. Perhaps you have some friends that are curious about the christian faith. You can invite them to this course. Or perhaps you yourself need to get the basics refreshed for yourself. We need to be rooted in the Word of God, and rooted in our mission to make disciples.

Lets remember to pray that we might develop as a church in a way that is pleasing to God. May we with our lives sing a renewed song of praise to our God, and declare his glory among the nations.

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity. Amen
